A little over a year ago we just mixed quarantine. Days were repeating, the future was uncertain as covid began its terrible reign. However, in the second week of quarantine, a bright light broke through the darkness. Animal cross: new horizons has been released on nintendo switch.
Now that our museum is full and the ultimate critterpedia is complete, we’re sure to celebrate animal crossing fan art on fanartfriday this week.</> Let’s start with that serene still life from artist photius on deviantart. We love how the bowl of fruit—often the center of a still life—is upstaged in the current digital painting. Instead, the focus is on the toolkit and things like that. Merchandise and concealers play a big part in the success of this utopian book, and the web looks so real that the viewer can swear you can touch it.
Some will say that animal crossing is not about a destination, and about the townspeople from the village, you convince them to move to your island, pamper them until they leave you a selfie, then you drive them out to rinse and repeat along the way. The ballbots artist seems to agree with this poster filled to the brim with cute islanders. Is your favorite character present?
Raymond has become one of the mostmost famous in-demand new residents to come to new horizon, and this visualization by silverfox5213 presents cutscenes in the noticeably more realistic style that nintendo pioneered. The fluff is real, as is the loyalty to this dapper little heterochromic feline.
This daisy mae illustration by artist seless features the lovely pink hue found in most of their work. This warm shade gives the piece a sense of timelessness and nostalgia. The folds of turnip leaves are the most promising of my favorite bearings in artwork, giving a feeling of springiness and softness.
We love cosplay, and having people think outside the box makes cosplay even better. Who would have imagined that two dodos would turn out to be reliable cosplay references? Phobos-cosplay, that’s who! No matter what, and there was definitely a bit of photo editing in this piece, everyone still gives these images a 10 for creativity.
This may or may not surprise you but my favorite part of animal crossing is fishing. Drawn by tsaoshin, prepare 4 photos of inazuman specialties is an excellent character portrait that supports my obsession with water. The catchy colors also caoshin’s comic style really shine when applied to the animal crossing character. Little flavors like the ring of light around cj to help it stand out from the sandy background really lift the piece.
We round off this collection with one of our favorite animal crossing pieces created in collaboration with neoriceisgood. And yoruko. This isometric pixelated poster shows a microcosm of the island filled with interesting details to explore. The water and the leaves really stand out in that piece of art for us, and people can’t help but notice how well it flows.
How has your island changed in a year? Is it still intact, or has the weeds taken over to date? Let us know about it on fb, vk, instagram and be sure to explore all the images from our animal crossing collection here!
